Mamava is a little company with a big mission: to revolutionize breastfeeding by making it more accessible for all mamas. And when you’re a small startup, changing the world takes a little help from your (breast!) friends.
When Zappos, a retailer that strives to deliver happiness and impact culture in innovative ways, approached Mamava about how they could help our efforts to provide clean, dignified spaces for breastfeeding and pumping mamas, we latched on happily. And a perfect partnership was born.
In February, Mamava and Zappos unveiled six “Zappified” Mamava pods—with cleaning wipes and breast pads—in Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport, the busiest in the world. Next, just in time for Mother’s Day, we teamed up again and hit New York City’s Grand Central Station with One Funny Mother, Dena Blizzard, to spark some much-needed conversations about breastfeeding and pumping. The results are hilarious:
It’s funny, but it’s also true: very little has changed to make life easier for breastfeeding moms at work and on the go. And it’s time to change. So don’t let the depressing facts get you down. Talk about boobs.
Help others understand why having a private place to pump is so important for breastfeeding mamas, ask why so many public spaces aren’t equipped to support breastfeeding mamas, and challenge people to do something about it. Our resources can help inform your conversations.
