Happy National Breastfeeding Month!
On August 6th, 2011, seven months after The Surgeon General's Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding, the United States Breastfeeding Committee (USBC) officially declared the month of August National Breastfeeding Month.
While we all know that #BreastIsBest, we also know that many women STILL don't have the accommodations and/or support necessary to continue exclusive breastfeeding for the recommended six months. Armed with this knowledge, the USBC dedicated their work to "improving the nations health by working collaboratively to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding." The ultimate goal and vision is to make breastfeeding the norm for all moms in the United States.
National Breastfeeding Month is a time where we can all come together to celebrate and support breastfeeding! As you know, we at Mamava celebrate breastfeeding on a daily basis, and for a little somethin' special this month, we are celebrating by donating a Mamava suite to a deserving place in need! Have you nominated a location? We are accepting nominations until August 16th. If you know of a place in need, nominate them!
We'll be selecting four finalists from the nominated locations and will open a voting panel on August 17th. The location that earns the most votes by September 1 will take home a Mamava lactation suite! Stay tuned for further details.
